Participants in the General Chapter
The General Chapter, it turns out, will consist of 173 capitular friars, and a group of brothers serving the capitulars themselves, each with their own office.
Some capitulars are present because of the current office they hold in the Order: the General Minister and his Council, the General Procurator, and the General Secretary.
The others are representing their respective circumscriptions, that is, provinces, provincial custodies, general custodies. In total, these brothers number 152. Others, then, were elected to represent each conference, namely 9 lay brothers.
The friars engaged in the various offices, number 43, holding a variety of positions: Chapter secretary, liturgical commission, information officers, interpreters, actuaries, translators, computer systems officers, economics, Collegio management, etc.
There will then be some invited for some specific events during the course of the Chapter, as a sign of communion in the Church: specifically, from the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and Institutes of Apostolic Life, and others as a sign of reciprocity within the Franciscan family.
